Rainbow Six Siege can be tough for newcomers to grasp, but these beginner-friendly operators make the first few games a little smoother.
Siege X is a team game, and most of the time, players need to have multiple roles covered when they pick operators. That’s why it’s best to include at least one operator from every role in the roster, but not all players know who the best operator is in each role.

Mira
Support Operator With Team-Oriented Ability
- Basic Stats: 1-Speed, 3-Health
- Primary Weapons: Vector .45 ACP (SMG), ITA12L (Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: USP40 (Pistol), ITA12S (Shotgun)
- Secondary Gadgets: Proximity Alarm, Nitro Cell
The Spanish operator is among the defenders with the highest ban rate, and that’s mostly due to her ability to create smart angles for her team. Mira comes with two Black Mirror windows that only have the view from one side, while the opposing side is blocked. This allows Mira to see the enemies on the other side of the wall, while they can’t see her.
The Mira setup doesn’t just work for gathering intel, but mostly for scoring kills. Mira players leave the wall next to the Black Mirror soft, and this allows them to peek at enemies quickly and kill them with a few shots, while the enemies don’t know when they will be peeked.

Blackbeard
A Shield Career With Reliable Weapons
- Basic Stats: 1-Speed, 3-Health
- Primary Weapons: MK17 CQB (AR), SR-25 (DMR)
- Secondary Gadgets: Frag Grenade, Claymore
Playing a shield operator perfectly requires a lot of practice, and the best operator to begin with in this niche area is Blackbeard. Unlike Montagne or Blitz, who carry pistols in the primary slot, Blackbeard can use an assault rifle with his shield, which is a massive advantage.

Rainbow Six Siege is filled with a wide array of operators but some of them are a lot easier to pick up and play than others.
His shield also comes with a signature ability that can breach soft walls, allowing him to cut corners, reach his destination faster, and be a little unpredictable. The first thing about playing a shield is to be perfect with timing. If the player goes into ADS with the wrong timing, they will be an easy target for the defenders. It’s also best to have a plan when playing a shield.

Goyo
Anti-Entry Defender With Deadly Canisters
- Basic Stats: 2-Speed, 2-Health
- Primary Weapons: Vector .45 ACP (SMG), TCSG12 (Slug Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapon: P229 (Pistol)
- Secondary Gadgets: Proximity Alarm, Bulletproof Camera, Impact Grenade
When plans for denying the attacker gadgets don’t succeed, there should be a last line of defense to prevent enemies from rushing the site or at least delay it as much as possible. That’s what Goyo excels at as a master of entry denial.
He comes with four incendiary canisters that can be mounted on walls or installed on the floor. Either shooting the canister or exploding it will result in an incendiary fire covering all over its range, damaging anyone who tries to run over it. These gadgets can be quite beneficial when the attackers are running out of time. Though finding the good spots to place the canisters is also important.

Dokkaebi
Immensely Powerful Entry Fragger With Long Learning Curve
- Basic Stats: 3-Speed, 1-Health
- Primary Weapons: MK 14 EBR (DMR), BOSG.12.2 (Slug Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: SMG-12 (Machine Pistol), C75 Auto (Machine Pistol), Gonne-6
- Secondary Gadgets: Smoke Grenade, Flash Grenade, EMP Grenade
Dokkaebi is an operator with a high skill cap, but it’s best to start mastering her early on. The first thing about mastering Dokkaebi is mastering the sound read in the game. The South Korean operator’s primary ability is to call all defenders. While the call is on, the mobile phone of all defenders will start vibrating, a sound that will let Dokkaebi know if there is any enemy nearby, and which side they are on. During the call, the defenders will not be able to check cameras, which allows Dokkaebi to rush without being watched by any surveillance gadget.

Until you’ve played for a while, it’s hard to tell which weapons are the best in Rainbow Six Siege. These are the most powerful ones in the game.
Now, if Dokkaebi gets a kill, she can hack the dead operator’s phone, and this will allow the entire attacker’s team to access any defender camera, be it default cameras on the map, Valkyrie’s Black Eyes, Maestro’s Evil Eyes, Echo’s Yokai Drones, or Bulletproof Cameras.
Dokkaebi’s weapon pool is also a little bit hard to master. While using DMR is not a big deal, her SMG-12 secondary is a better weapon for close quarters, and mastering its recoil will probably take some time for new players.

Kaid
Prevent Attackers From Breaching The Site
- Basic Stats: 1-Speed, 3-Health
- Primary Weapons: AUG A3 (SMG), TCSG12 (Slug Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: USP40 (Pistol), ITA12S (Shotgun)
- Secondary Gadgets: .44 Mag Semi-Auto (Pistol), LFB586 (Pistol)
Reinforcing soft walls is the first step towards denying enemies from easily rushing into the site, but the next step is to prevent them from using hard breach gadgets. Kaid, Mute, and Bandit are the three main options for this purpose, and each one comes with some advantages and disadvantages.

Kaid’s biggest plus is that he can hide his Electro Claws in sneaky spots, so that the enemies cannot find them so easily. However, he cannot trick the hard breach gadgets unless a Tubarao helps him. Kaid is a 1-Speed operator, but he comes with an immensely powerful TCSG12 slug shotgun as the primary weapon, suitable for kills and opening rotations.
5
Ram
The Safest Option For Creating Vertical Angles
- Basic Stats: 1-Speed, 3-Health
- Primary Weapons: R4-C (AR), LMG-E (LMG)
- Secondary Weapons: MK19mm (Pistol)
- Secondary Gadgets: Flash Grenade, Smoke Grenade
Vertical gunfight is one of the iconic features of Siege X, and there are operators who solely focus on this, like Ram. The South Korean operator brings a machine that can breach any soft floor that it runs over. Prior to Ram, players usually used to open vertical angles either with Sledge or Buck, but both of those could’ve been easily died to a C4 from below. Ram completely denies such a threat.
However, the price for such an amazing ability is the lack of pace, as Ram is a 1-Speed operator. That being said, she comes with R4-C as a primary weapon, which is a deadly assault rifle with a little bit of high recoil that requires some practice.
4
Kapkan
A Master Of Lethal Traps With Powerful SMG
- Basic Stats: 2-Speed, 2-Health
- Primary Weapons: 9×19 VSN (SMG), SASG-12 (Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: PMM (Pistol), GSH-18 (Pistol)
- Secondary Gadgets: Bulletproof Camera, Barbed Wire
There is a wide variety of traps in Siege X. Some of them only apply a status effect to the opponents, while some others are purely lethal. Kapkan is the most notorious trapper in the game, and he can easily score kills with his traps if installed in the right place.

Two Kapkan traps can kill a 1-Health operator, while three of them guarantee a kill for any operator type. With five traps to play with, Kapkan can be a force to reckon with for attackers. It will take some time to find the best spots for trapping on each map, but eventually, Kapkan is an operator that is worth investing time in.
3
Capitao
Prepare The Site For Planting And Keep Enemies At Bay
- Basic Stats: 3-Speed, 1-Health
- Primary Weapons: PARA-308 (AR), M249 (LMG)
- Secondary Weapons: PRB92 (Pistol), Gonne-6
- Secondary Gadgets: EMP Grenade, Claymore, Hard Breach Charges
The Brazilian attacker is one of the best operators in Siege X to take control of the map and prepare the site for planting. Capitao comes with a special crossbow that can shoot smoke and incendiary arrows. One for blocking the line of sight and the other for preventing defenders from rushing the planter.
As a three-speed operator, Capitao carries a decent assault rifle, and he also has access to Gonne-6, the best secondary weapon to destroy utilities and shields in the game.
Capitao is highly flexible, and aside from helping the planter, he can also serve as an entry fragger in the team by forcing enemies to act predictably. And let’s not forget about his EMP grenades in the secondary gadget slot that can come in handy in various scenarios, either to disable gadgets or help the hard breacher.
2
Valkyrie
Gather Intel For The Team And Surprise Attackers
- Basic Stats: 2-Speed, 2-Health
- Primary Weapons: MPX (SMG), SPAS-12 (Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: D-50 (Pistol)
- Secondary Gadgets: Impact Grenade, Nitro Cell
Released during the first year of Siege, she is still one of the best intel-gathering operators in the game. Valkyrie has three small deployable cameras with 360 degrees of view. There are multiple different camera types in this game, but Valkyrie’s Black Eyes are the best.
What makes Valkyrie overpowered is that she can hide her cameras in sneaky spots. The attackers will never have a chance to even spot the camera without droning properly, and some spots are so tricky that even droning may not reveal them.
Black Eye camera works silently, and as long as the player doesn’t red-ping the attackers, they won’t notice that they are being watched. Only IQ can detect the camera spot through the walls, and Dokkaebi can disable it for a brief period or hack it permanently.
1
Ace
Most Flexible Hard-Breacher In The Game
- Basic Stats: 2-Speed, 2-Health
- Primary Weapons: AK-12 (SMG), M1014 (Shotgun)
- Secondary Weapons: P9 (Pistol)
- Secondary Gadgets: Soft Breach Charges, Claymore
Some pro players believe that Ace was a revolution in the hard-breach gameplay in Siege, and they can’t be more accurate. The hard breaching used to be a less flexible role before Ace, but his genius SELMA charges completely changed the role, making it a lot more interesting.
Although Thermite still creates the biggest holes in the wall for the attackers to run through, the problem with him is that he always has to stand next to the reinforced wall, which comes with various risks. Hibana doesn’t have this problem, but her X-Kairos charges don’t create big enough holes for the attackers.
Ace is the middle ground between the two. He comes with charges that create big enough holes in the wall, and he is also able to throw them from a distance, making him a jack of all trades and suitable for every scenario.
